The New Inn
New Inn at St Owen's Cross
The New Inn is a 16th century coaching inn located four miles outside Ross at St Owen's Cross. A multi-award winning pub, 2008 saw it named pub of the year in the Flavours of Herefordshire competition as well as being voted Midlands Family Pub of the Year. It was also a finalist in the Publican magazine's Pub Food of the Year 2008 awards, and has been given the Cask Force award for its real ales.
If the pewter bar looks familiar it's because it was a fixture of the Hole in the Wall pub in Ross for more than 100 years, before the pub closed in the 1980s. The bar and pumps were sent to London to be auctioned, but ended up being bought by the then owner of the New Inn who brought them back to Herefordshire.
Owners Nigel and Tee Maud are continuing the award winning tradition with their recently acquired Red Lion pub in Peterstow, which is also up for Herefordshire Flavours Pub of the Year.
