Ross has its own free wifi cloud
WiFi in Ross town centre
If you've ever felt maybe you'd rather finish and send that report sitting by the river on a warm afternoon than in your stuffy office, your wishes have come true. Ross is not only ahead of the curve in terms of the number of home-based businesses.
Local businesses of all kinds have received an extra boost, as the town centre has become completely WiFi enabled.
With Herefordshire already recognised for being a centre of enterprise, Ross is one of the first towns in the country to provide an entire town centre wide WiFi system, with 'hot spots' throughout central areas - both inside buildings and externally along the streets - as well as at outlying tourist and accommodation spots like the river bank, providing a major boost to businesses and visitors alike.
The system went live in March 2009, enabling people to be able to work, surf the web and make free voice calls via BT Openzone wherever they see the 'Ross on WiFi' symbol displayed. Access is via text request and will be provided free of charge for the first hour.
